Strange but profound truths By Carolyn Pierce, President Lobby Directing and etc. . . Lobby directing is a clerk job, period. I don't really care who, or what, is doing it. It is a CLERK FUNCTION. We can only file for the money owed to you (for someone else doing your job) if you tell us. We, as officers and stewards of this local, need you as our eyes and ears. We need who, what, when, and how. Management personnel can open the door for a customer, say "hello," and that's about it. Help us help you. Tell your steward or call the union office. Don't forget to "clock on" your proper operation at work. So what if you move 20 times a day. It will prove our arguments, after a Function 4 review tells management to cut the workforce. Also, please use the non-revenue key while working the window. Our arguments and enforcing the contract are only a strong as your input. COPA COPA COPA COPA . . . COPA donations must come from membership contributions. The money raised cannot come out of your membership dues because it is against the law to use union dues to fund Political Action Funds. The money raised goes to politicians who put into place legislation that can effect postal workers. The money does not go to one particular political party, but to whomever can help all of us, as a whole. Below are the options you have in which ways you can contribute: PostalEase, electronic fund transfer, and check or credit card. You can also give a check made out to "COPA" to your steward, officers of this local, or send a check to the union office. Whichever you choose. . . thanks in advance. |
