"We Deliver" Phone Cards

By Diane Calfee

As the war on terrorism continues, we, Americans at home, feel helpless.  We all feel for our troops, and want to contribute somehow to show our support for what they are doing for our country.  Well now, we all can finally help.

The U. S. Postal Service has initiated a project to contribute phone cards to our troops overseas.  Our window clerks are offering their customers to purchase a USPS phone card to be sent, so the soldiers can call home during the upcoming holidays.  Preaddressed priority boxes are displayed, with a slot cut out, so the customer can drop the size of a standard envelope in the box.  The customer has the option to just drop the phone card in the box, or put the card in a sealed envelope with a message, and/or their return address in hope the soldier will write to them.  We have had such a great response from our customers, and many positive comments.  We want everyone to know what the Post Office is doing, to lift our soldiers spirits, during a very hard and trying situation for each and everyone of them.  So come to one of our post offices, buy your stamps, mail your packages, and ask to purchase a phone card for our troops overseas.  You'll walk out with one of the greatest feelings, the feeling of giving.  WE DELIVER!!!
