Odds & Ends

By Bill Pick, Maintenance Craft Director

Just a few things to quickly cover...

The APWU has selected the Fort Lauderdale P&DC for the 2005 Maintenance Training Program to take place November 12-16, 2005.  Twenty-four Staffing Advocates from around the country will perform a mock custodial and mechanization staffing of the facility.  I will keep ya'll posted on what is found.

After six scheduled hearings the MS-47 arbitration is over, and we are waiting on the arbitrator's decision.

There will be an MSS open season beginning in March 2006.  This is ideal for maintenance employees that re interested in a promotion rather than waiting for an upgrade.

Please remember to review your PAR.  You are basically allowed to make changes 3 times a year with a freebie during the first 14 days of January.  And remember to get and keep a round dated copy of your PAR form or other document you submit to Management.

The Local election is over, and I want to thank the Election Committee for their outstanding work.  Fine job ya'll.  I think it is a real credit to the members of this Local that over 60% of the membership voted.  You people are just awesome!  And last, but no least, I would like to congratulate the new officers of the Local.  All the members need to help the Officers in maintaining this Local's upstanding reputation.
